SINGAPORE: BeepCast, formed in 2000,
hopes to take the nuisance out of SMS
advertising by launching a 'BeepMe™'
service this month. Advertisers can
now place a BeepMe™ logo on their
ad,with a code that customers can the
product or service advertised. Further
information is then sent through his
or her preferred option — SMS,
email or letterbox.
"You will never receive an SMS
or any other info from BeepMe™
unless you request it. That is why we
describe the BeepMe™ service as
a 'Safe- Text' environment," said
BeepCast director John Smallwood.
"Evidence suggests that
if SMS advertising continues to send
unsolicited messages, people will turn
off. That is why we are offering a safe
way for people to interact — true
permission marketing."
Advertisers will not have access to
any personal information that the consumer
provides thanks to BeepCast's ''virtual
firewall', However,
Beepcast can provide data about the
performance of the the ads. "We
can tell which creative solutions prompt
the most responses, which ads are
least effective, even which media are
provoking the most interaction,"said
Smallwood.
BeepCast can also track an ad's effectiveness
cycle.The company has
applied for worldwide patents and is
working on a more advanced delivery
system that will take this into people's
homes.
"When people realise that using
BeepMe™ is safe, they will interact
where and whenever they want to when
they see the BeepMe™ logo,"
Smallwood said.
